Hello, and welcome back to Small Flat, Loud Kettle. I am Nurul Izzati Rahman. One quiet story every week from an old apartment block in Cheras, no cliffhangers, no villains, just neighbours. Tonight's story is called One Durian, Three Balconies. Farah, the student on the ninth floor, the one with the single suitcase and the rice cooker, has been given a whole durian by Mak Cik Lim as a thank-you for last Sunday's stairs. Farah has never opened a durian in her life. She has a butter knife. The smell reaches the eighth floor in about four minutes, and the seventh not long after, and by evening three balconies are involved in what becomes, by accident, a dinner.
