About the show

Golden Hour Is a Lie is a weekly photography show hosted by Harriet Lowe, a Melbourne press photographer with sixteen years of bushfires, elections and weddings behind her, who believes the best pictures are usually made in the worst light. Each 35 minute episode is a conversation with one photographer about one body of work or one assignment: a wedding shot entirely on a cloudy day, a year documenting a single street in Jakarta, the one frame from a fire season that still keeps her up at night. Harriet asks about gear exactly once per episode and then moves on to what matters: how you see, how you wait, and how you get paid. The show is for working and aspiring photographers, film and digital without snobbery, and for anyone who takes pictures on their phone and wants to take better ones. Honest about failure, generous about craft, and recorded wherever the light is bad.
