About the show

Half Hour Call is a weekly show about theatre from the wings rather than the stalls. Folake Adeyemi-Oni has directed in Lagos and London for over a decade and ran a touring company that performed in school halls across southwest Nigeria, so she knows what it is to open a play when the generator has died and the lead has a fever. Each 35 minute episode is a conversation with one person who makes theatre happen: a stage manager, a lighting designer, a playwright, a costume maker, an actor on their fortieth performance of the same role. The show is for theatre makers at every level, from drama students to touring professionals, and for audiences who want to know what happens between the half hour call and the curtain. Expect stories of near disasters, honest talk about money and rehearsal rooms, and recurring segments on casting and on productions that toured where theatre rarely goes.
