About the show

Room Tone is an interview show about the craft of music production. Hannah Whitlock, a mixing engineer with two decades in London studios, sits down each week with a producer, engineer or session player and asks the questions only another practitioner would ask: how did you get that snare sound, why did you leave the mistake in, what did the artist say when they heard it, how do you keep a session calm at 3am. The conversations run 45 to 55 minutes and are built for listeners who make music in bedrooms, project studios and big rooms alike, and for curious fans who want to know what a producer actually does all day. Hannah brings her own session notes and the occasional isolated stem so you can hear a decision rather than just talk about it. Genres range from drill to folk to film scores.
