She Reviewed the Date Out Loud

This week's story comes from a man who noticed his date muttering things like strong start, weak follow through, and realised she was reviewing him like a cafe. Tahlia reads it as a sports commentary.

  • The live review, reconstructed with a scoreboard
  • Red Flag or Just Tired with guest comedian Ben Okafor
  • Submissions: he does not believe in Tuesdays, she brought a laminated list, he called the waiter chief
  • The follow up call, which goes somewhere nobody expected
  • Tahlia's rule of the week: do not take notes, or at least do it in your head

Two listeners from episode one have now met each other. Tahlia takes no responsibility.

Hello hello, Tahlia Nguyen here, this is Swiped Left on Brunch, and before anything else, a fork update, because you asked. Then on to this week, which might be my favourite ever. A listener was at dinner, things going fine, when he noticed his date was quietly saying things under her breath. Strong start. Bit much with the bread. Weak follow through on the job question. She was reviewing him. Out loud. In real time. Like he was a brunch place. I am going to read it like sports commentary, because that is what it is. Then Ben Okafor joins me to rule on a man who says he does not believe in Tuesdays, and I am calling the listener, who tells me the ending took a turn. Order the bread anyway.
