About the show

Twelve Frames a Second is about how animated films and series are made and why they look the way they do. Nurul Izzah Rahimi has worked as a character animator in Kuala Lumpur for a decade, on everything from Malaysian children's television to outsourced sequences for American features, and she brings a working animator's eye to every topic: why Studio Ghibli animates on twos, how a Pixar short is boarded, what an Upin and Ipin episode costs, how a one-person team in Jakarta makes a web series. Episodes are a mix of solo explainers and interviews with animators, riggers and voice directors, run about 35 minutes, and come out every Thursday. There is a listener question slot every month. It is for animation fans who want to see behind the frame and for students and hobbyists who have a drawing tablet and a lot of questions.
