The Parking Garage Musical

A voice note from a listener in Denver asked for a musical about a parking garage. Marisol booked a keyboard player and two guests who can almost sing, and this is the result.

  • Opening number: Level Three Is Full, which is also the only lyric
  • The villain reveal, a ticket machine that accepts only exact change
  • Guest Jonah improvises a ballad from the point of view of a forgotten umbrella
  • Why musical improv is harder than it sounds and easier than it looks
  • Listener prompts that did not make it, read aloud with respect

If you have a keyboard and no shame, Marisol wants to hear from you.

Hello and welcome back to Yes And Whatever Happens. I am Marisol Quintero, and this week a listener from Denver sent a voice note asking for a musical about a parking garage. I thought about it for exactly four seconds and then booked a keyboard player. So today we have Jonah and Keisha, who have both agreed that they can almost sing, and we are building a full musical from nothing, with an opening number, a villain, and at least one emotional ballad. Nobody has rehearsed. The keyboard player has not been told the plot because there is no plot. If it works, it will be a triumph. If it falls apart, it will still be a triumph, just a louder one. Park on level three. You are listening on Witspeak Podcasts!
