Guided practice: hips

This is the first guided episode. Find a quiet patch of floor, fold a towel for your knees, and follow Putri through a sequence designed for people who have been sitting since breakfast. The practice is followed by a short explanation of what you just did.

  • Breathing to settle before you move
  • A low lunge sequence for the front of the hip
  • Gentle hip openers with no pressure to go deep
  • A final rest and body scan
  • Why your tight hamstrings might actually be a hip problem

Thursday's talk episode covers mobility versus flexibility.

Transcript
Hello, selamat datang, and welcome to Bend, Don't Break. My name is Putri Anggraini and this is a show for bodies that feel stiff, tired and a bit older than they should. Today is a guided practice, so I want you on the floor. Not a yoga mat, a towel is fine, a carpet is fine. We are going to spend twenty minutes on your hips, because if you sit at a desk or on a motorbike all day, your hips are quietly folding in on themselves. You will not need to be flexible. You will not need to touch your toes. You just need to breathe and follow my voice. Afterwards I will explain what we did and why it works. Let us begin by lying down. You are listening on Witspeak Podcasts.

Flexible is not the same as mobile

A Thursday talk episode. Putri explains the difference between flexibility and mobility, why bendy people get injured too, and how strength and control matter more than range.
