Questions at the Shabbat Table is a weekly show about Jewish wisdom traditions, recorded in Buenos Aires by a man who was raised secular, found his way into Talmud study at 34, and still does not have all the answers. Ezequiel Rosenfeld is a lawyer by training and a student of a small Conservative study circle in the Once neighbourhood, and each 35-minute episode takes one question the way a study partnership would: what does Judaism say about forgiving someone who has not apologised, why argue with God, what is the point of a rule about mixing wool and linen, what the rabbis meant by repairing the world. Ezequiel reads a passage from Torah, Talmud or a later commentary, explains it without assuming Hebrew, and talks it through with a guest, a rabbi, a Holocaust survivor's granddaughter, a convert, a secular novelist. The show welcomes Jews of every stripe and anyone else who likes a good argument.
