A Forty Euro Smart Doorbell, Opened

Lukas opens a cheap smart doorbell that stopped ringing after one winter, finds the water, finds the battery, and decides whether anyone could reasonably have fixed it.

About the show

Torx and Tweezers is a fortnightly teardown show in audio form. Lukas Reinholt, a repair technician from Leipzig, opens one device per episode on the bench, a budget earbud, a smart doorbell, a ten-year-old games console, a kitchen scale that stopped working, and describes what he finds as he goes: the screws that are glued, the battery that is soldered, the part that failed because it was always going to. Each 35-minute episode is narrated live from the workbench with the sounds of the job, then followed by a short, plain verdict on whether the thing can be fixed by a normal person and what it would cost. It is for tinkerers, people who hate throwing things away, and anyone curious why their gadget died a week after the warranty ended. Lukas also answers listener repair questions at the end of every episode.
