Leaving in Three Months, Since 2016

Everyone in Dubai has this friend. Sometimes everyone in Dubai is this friend. Rania and guest Dev Menon go through the stages of the person who is always, definitely, leaving in three months.

  • The first farewell dinner, which is sincere, and the fourth, which has a loyalty card
  • Why the three month timeline never changes and what it would take to update it
  • The furniture sale post that has been reposted annually since 2019
  • Listener story: a woman who had four leaving parties and then got promoted
  • Dev's own leaving date, which he announces and then retracts on air

If you are leaving in three months, send a voice note. We will keep it until you actually go.

Transcript
Hello habibi, welcome to Visa Run and Brunch, I am Rania Haddad, and with me today is Dev Menon, who told me in the lift that he is leaving Dubai in three months. Dev, you said that at my birthday in 2019. Today we are talking about that friend. The one who is leaving. Always leaving. Never left. We go through the farewell dinners, from the first one where everyone cries, to the fourth one where the restaurant gives you a loyalty stamp. We have the furniture sale post that comes back every October like a season. And a listener who had four leaving parties and then got promoted and had to text everyone. Get your brunch outfit ready, it is Thursday, we made it. You are listening on Witspeak Podcasts!
