The Bus Timetable Is a Work of Fiction

Series opener from the pub basement. Panellists Jen Doyle and Ravi Chandra face Lisa Mackay and Tom Beale, and the scoring collapses within four minutes.

  • Headlines We Misread: a council story about bins is understood four different ways
  • What Is This Noise: it was a kettle, two teams said goose
  • Pointless Expertise: Tom lectures on the history of the roundabout with total confidence and no facts
  • Rant Round: Lisa on the number 44 bus, which exists only in theory
  • Final scores, read by Callum from the wrong card

Send a subject for Pointless Expertise and a panellist will become an expert in it on the spot.

Transcript
Good evening and welcome to Points Mean Nothing, the panel show where the points mean nothing and the title is a legal disclaimer. I am Callum Fraser and we are in a pub basement in Glasgow with an audience of thirty people and one dog. On my left, Jen Doyle and Ravi Chandra. On my right, Lisa Mackay and Tom Beale. The teams have been chosen by me, randomly, in the sense that I did it. Tonight we misread the headlines, we fail to identify a noise, Tom becomes an expert on roundabouts for three minutes, and in the Rant Round Lisa has sixty seconds on the number 44 bus, which she claims has never actually arrived. Scores will be announced inaccurately at the end. Fingers on buzzers. You are listening on Witspeak Podcasts!

A Confident Lecture on Cheese

Ravi delivers Pointless Expertise on cheese with no knowledge of cheese, a headline about a lighthouse goes badly wrong, and the Rant Round is won by applause for a complaint about teaspoons.
