About the show

The Marsh House Inventory is a serialised mystery in 35-minute chapters, released weekly, written and narrated by Oliver Featherstone from Norwich. When auctioneer Hattie Crane is sent to catalogue the contents of Marsh House, a damp Georgian pile on the Norfolk coast whose owner died without a will, she expects a week of furniture and mould. Instead every object she lists has a story that contradicts the last, the solicitor keeps changing the dates, and the village remembers a second death nobody wrote down. Each chapter is built around one item from the inventory, read in Hattie's dry, careful voice, and the picture only comes together across the series, so start at chapter one. It is for listeners who like a slow English mystery with weather, tea and no gore, in the tradition of the great village puzzles. A full cast of regional actors plays the villagers.
